The
birth of a new baby is usually a joyous time for all concerned. In fact, there
is arguably no greater experience for parents than watching their creation enter
into the world. Aside from the odd stain of blood and goo, newborns are
universally beautiful. Indeed, these innocents will usually feature softly
wrinkled skin, small tufts of hair and large bold eyes that are as sensitive to
their new environment as they are inquisitive. Then the screaming begins.
Nevertheless, there are plenty of reasons to celebrate when a baby is delivered
into the world.
Of course, parents of newborn babies will have their hands full from the moment
the little bundles of joy arrive on the scene. Among many other tasks, parents
are duty bound to feed, wind, change and cradle their babies on a twenty four
hour basis. As such, the birth of a baby can prove to be a difficult time for
parents whilst it is also clearly a period of great joy. Other people, however,
such as friends and family members, will usually only experience the positive
side of the new arrival. Indeed, the wide-eyed stares of the newborn are matched
only by its cute gurgles, chuckles and burps – visitors can coo at and cuddle
the baby before handing it back over to the parents when it screams or soils
itself. Some visitors will also swear that the baby smiled at them, although
such claims will be roundly dismissed as mere expressions of wind.
Nevertheless, this joyous time is certainly one that requires a baby gift or
two. Indeed, as mentioned above, looking after a newborn baby can be extremely
difficult both in an emotional and physical sense. The finances also take a
knock as a newborn demands clothing, food, prams, cots and so on. Therefore, it
is customary for visitors to give parents entirely useful and practical
presents. These may include a fresh set of colourful and attractive bibs – of
which parents can never have too many – clothes, bouncers and various toys. Soft
toys such as teddy bears are especially popular gifts to give young babies and
their parents. However, flowers are presents that may not instantly spring to
mind when considering what to buy in celebration of a newborn baby, yet these
are often among the best choices.

Indeed, flowers
can be symbolic of new growth or life, which is obviously relevant to newborn
babies. Furthermore, flowers can represent hope, peace and innocence, which are
also perfectly descriptive of the arrival of a new baby. There is also no strict
colour scheme to choose when buying flowers as baby gifts because, although
white chrysanthemums symbolise innocence and the circle of life, more vibrant
colours better represent the joy that is associated with new life. Moreover,
colourful floral arrangements and bouquets tend to catch the untrained eye of a
newborn baby and they are also of great psychological benefit to fatigued
mothers.
Fragrant bouquets also breathe fresh life into a home or hospital room, with
cool blue lilies among the most stylish and calming of flowers picked for such
arrangements. Indeed, there are few more relaxing experiences than when a
newborn baby has drifted off to sleep in the arms of its mother, who can then
recline in her chair and look out across the room as the sunlight penetrates
through the charming petals and leaves of her newly acquired floral bouquets.
Notwithstanding this, another popular baby gift – even though it is actually
intended for the mother alone – is chocolate. Indeed,
chocolates by post
are delicious baby gifts to send those who cannot be visited for some reason or
another but who still need to know that you care enough about them to make the
effort.
